Good news from Hylas 1 satellite and Avanti Communications 21/12/2010
Hylas 1, which has been launched on november 26th, has reached its geostationary orbit and the first transmissions have been received at Avanti's Earth Station based in the United Kingdom. All the systems of the satellite have been turned on and everything is going as planned. The launch was highly efficient and as a result Hylas 1 is expected to achieve longer useful life than planned because of fuel efficiency during transfer to geostationary orbit.
The tests will continue before giving way to commercial launch of Internet access services via satellite on Hylas 1.
Avanti Communications, which accumulates the good news, also announced the signing of a 5 year contract with German company Filiago, already a partner of SES and its Internet access service via satellite ASTRA2Connect, and is one of the most important satellite Internet service provider in Europe, notably in Germany but also in Switzerland and Austria.
