KA-SAT satellite successfully launched

KA-SAT, Eutelsat's new satellite dedicated to the Internet via satellite, was successfully launched this Sunday, December 26, 2010 at 22H51 (GMT) by a Proton M launcher from Baikonur in Kazakhstan.
KA-SAT, transported by the Breeze-M module, will continue its run for about nine hours until its geostationary orbit. It will then enter a test phase to ensure that all its systems are operational.
If all goes well, KA-SAT will enter service in late April or early May 2011 for a period of 16 years.
KA-SAT will significantly evolve the satellite Internet service Tooway. The download tranfert rates may reach up to 10 Mbps and up to 4 Mbps for the upload. The new connection kit will have a reception Tooway smaller antenna and installation much easier.
